Welcome to Guitars For Kids Cambridge - Donate A Guitar, Change A Life!

Guitars For Kids was founded by Bob Egan of Blue Rodeo and Bob's Guitar Service in collaboration with Cambridge Live Music, Queen Street Music School and Idea Exchange. The purpose of the program is to provide FREE used guitars for Cambridge youth in need.

The program continues to receive overwhelming support from the community with over 100 guitars collected in the first year alone!

66 guitars have been refurbished and redistributed to Cambridge youth either directly or through the following organizations; Kinbridge Community Association, Cambridge YFC/Youth Unlimited, Cambridge YWCA Girl's Centre, Greenway-Chaplin Community Association, Cambridge YMCA Teen Drop-In Zone, students from St. Andrew's Public School, Preston Heights Community Association, Langs/Grow Community Centre, Silverheights Neighbourhood Association, Forward Church South Cambridge, Cambridge Vineyard Church, Big Brothers Big Sisters Waterloo Region, Central Public School, John Howard Society, Waterloo Wellington Community Care Access Centre plus Carizon Family & Community Services' School Mental Health Program at Centennial Public School, Chalmers Street Public School and Stewart Avenue Public School. 

Guitars For Kids Cambridge FAQ

Why are we holding a guitar donation drive?

Bob's Guitar Service, in partnership with Cambridge Live Music, Queen Street Music School and Idea Exchange has created Guitars For Kids Cambridge. Donated guitars deemed suitable for repair will be refurbished by either Bob's Guitar Service or Brian Gardiner Guitar Repair then distributed to Cambridge youth in need either directly or via a number of community organizations.

When can I donate a guitar? 

We are accepting guitars on an ongoing basis.

What kinds of guitars are accepted?

Acoustic - any size or style 

Electric - any size or style

Bass - any style

We also accept amps, cables, cases, tuners, stands, strings and picks.

Will all guitars be added to the Guitars For Kids Cambridge Program?

Not all donated guitars will be added to the Guitars For Kids Cambridge Program. Any guitars deemed unsuitable for repair due to cost will be allocated to the Art Guitar Program. Some guitars may be sold or auctioned to raise money for the program. Guitars For Kids Cambridge reserves the right to decide what guitars will be refurbished, sold, auctioned or displayed as an Art Guitar.

Will I get a tax receipt for my donation?

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer tax receipts as part of this program.

What if I don't have an instrument, but would like to make a financial contribution?

Yes, we will gladly accept financial contributions to the Guitars For Kids Cambridge Program. If you would like to donate funds to support this program, please visit www.cambridgelivemusic.com/donate. Include Guitars For Kids in the comment section. You can also send a cheque payable to Cambridge Live Music with Guitars For Kids in the memo section. Please email info@cambridgelivemusic.com for details.

Who is involved in this project?

Bob's Guitar Service, Cambridge Live Music, Queen Street Music School and Idea Exchange are working together on this important project. Additional guitar repair is provided by Brian Gardiner Guitar Repair. Sponsors include; Your Neighbourhood Credit Union, Franklin Self Storage Store All and D'Addario Canada.
